Star of Bethlehem

Star of Bethlehem

“Adoration of the Magi” by Florentine painter Giotto di Bondone (1267–1337). The Star of Bethlehem is shown as a comet above the child. In all likelihood the Star of Bethlehem was not a comet as comets were viewed as omens of bad news (such as the death of kings) in the ancient world.
